  • Nature Photography

I started with photography quite late at the age of 25. First I was taking pictures of pretty much everything, but very soon I began concentrating on nature and wildlife photography with rapidly increasing interest in birds.

  • Ascent of Mont Blanc

The highest mountain in western Europe at 4,810 m

I climbed the Mont Blanc with two friends in late September 2007. After one day spent on Aiguille du Midi (3842 m) for altitude acclimatization we took the Tramway du Mont Blanc to Nid d'Aigle (2372 m). From there we had an easy hike to the Refuge de Tête Rousse (3187 m). The summit attempt started early at 4am in the pitch dark night, first climbing up a rocky ridge to the Refuge de l'Aiguille du Goûter (3817 m), later walking up moderate slopes to the final narrow ridges, which gradually steepened towards the summit. The ascent of the two Bosses and the final Arête on the frontier crest were quite a slog in the thin air, but the sensational exposure and breathtaking views made up for anything.

  • Mountainbike Transalp

Roughly 450 km and a vertical gain of 13,000 m in 8 days

July 2007: my first mountainbike Transalp tour and my first time ever in the Dolomites. We really had phantastic weather with up to 43 degrees. However, when it was over I said: "Never again!" About two weeks later I asked my friends whether they have plans for next year already :)
